Well NABCC 1, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are over now, plus I've posted most of my backlog of resin and white metal recent acquisitions, so time to get back on my daily diecast postings. This Dinky Toy was made from 1963 to 1967 and has suspension, opening hood, and a lift-off roof. Besides this metallic blue color, it came in metallic green with a darker green roof, and pink with a white roof. Around 1965, it was modified to delete the roof, but add a driver, passenger, twin antennae, license stickers, and jewelled headlights. Also at this time the wheels were changed from the old contoured type to a solid metal hub. My example has the nasty cardboard/cellophane box where the model was held inside by rubber bands and plastic braces - very prone to damage.

I've been putting it off as activity keeps posts on this Forum readily observable for far too short a time. I do have the parts for 1957 ready to go which I will in the next week..

Interestingly this Plymouth convertible was one of a number of Dinky Toys that were produced in Calcutta India after Lines Brothers, owners of Dinky Toys, sold or lent dies for obsolete models to the Indian firm who made them as Nicky Toys in 1970. There is a considerable write up about this in the Mike & Sue Richardson's book Dinky Toys & Modeled Miniatures, and a list of the ones produced as Nicky Toys. The only one I have is this MGB. Quality is not as good from these worn dies as the UK produced ones. For Jaguar collectors there was also a Mark 10, an E Type and a Daimler 2.5 liter saloon redone as a Mark 2. Aircraft, military and other cars were on the Nicky list. Here is the only one I have, the white one being UK made the silver one Indian made.
And by the way Harvey, you're lucky to have that Plymouth, the Ebay prices are pretty dear.

@john-quilter I once had a Nicky MGB in an awful olive green color. Have not missed it. As for prices, asking and getting are two different things, as we all know. I did see that a pink one with box sold for $165. I paid $2.50 for mine but that was long, long ago from the original retailer.

@mg-harv Somehow I missed that Plymouth back in my Dinky collecting days. Will have to keep an eye out for one. I see now you can buy replacement roofs and driver. Is it pretty close to 1/43?

@john-quilter Seems to be but I haven't measured. It is bigger than the 1950s Dinky American cars.
