Well, comment-wise, last week's Porsches went over like a lead balloon. So I'll get back to 'Murican cars this week. A few years ago I published an MAR article about models of cars used by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Since that time I've sold off the 1/18, 1/24, and 1/87 versions to concentrate on 1/43. Plus quite a few others have been issued since. So I got them out for a photo shoot yesterday for posting this week.
First up is a 1941 Ford by First Response Replicas. Some of you will recognize this as the same casting sold as a Fleer civilian car a while back. This was also issued in the familiar cream and black colors used today by the THP. I missed that one but it has become pricey now. I could not find any online pics of the '41 (which would be black and white anyway) but I suspect the cream/black color came later. But I did find a response that said 2-door Fords were the norm up until around 1967 - I was surprised 4-doors didn't come sooner. The license tags seem to be of a later design so perhaps this is based on a restored car somewhere.
Excellent ! I have several of these Fleer/First Response '41 Fords and they are really nice.
I think they did a good job on them Mike. Here is my Fleer in maroon with TN tags.
That looks exceptionally nice ! The color has just the right "authenticity" for a '41 Ford.
I have the civilian version and think this model is terrific especially for the price.
