Continuing with Minichamps Porsche racing cars this week, here is the Donohue/Follmer 911 Carrara RSR from the 1973 Daytona 24-hour race. Porsche had just develped the 2.8L RSR to compete with Ferrari Daytonas and similar road car-based foes and loaned out two for the 1973 race. This car, and the famous Gregg/Haywood Brumos No. 59 car swapped places through much of the race. Amazingly, the prototype cars (Matra, Mirage, etc.) dropped out with various failures, leaving the two RSRs fighting it out for the win. But around dawn the No. 6 car succumbed to engine failure. The winning Brumos car led the 2nd-place Ferrari Daytona by 22 laps at the end (and I'll get around to making pics of it someday).
