Similar to the Royal Bobcat I posted a few days ago, the Yenko Chevrolet dealership in Canonsburg PA had been hotrodding Novas and Camaros in the 1960s. Originally Don Yenko used the Stinger name on some performance-enhanced Corvairs, but in 1971 the Vega arrived. Between 1971 and 1972 400 COPO Vegas were delivered to Yenko, where graphics, spoilers, etc. were added. To increase power the 2.3-liter engine needed a turbicharger but, due to EPA requirements, this was not a part of the GMC package - the kit had to be owner-installed. Around 400 Stingers were sold, very few remain today.

This is another in the DeAgostini American Cars series. The original color was called Man-O-War Red. Someone at PCT is really doing their homework.

I never thought I would ever need a Vega model but when I saw this Stinger version I had to get it...just because of its history and being so rare now.  In hand it's actually kind of a cool little model.

I also had to order one of these. I was very pleased with it when it arrived. Very cool.
