As most of you know by now, Ixo produces models for its own ranges while offering the same or similar models to partworks and subscription series by Altaya, Hachette, etc. Ixo's Museum series had a parallel series by Altaya, typically in different colors and with painted details (where the pricier MUS version has chrome). Ixo's MUS041 Voisin was issued in black, a typical color for Voisin. But the wheels were chromed wires (totally untypical) and the window surrounds in painted silver seemed to stick out more.
So I had a look at the Altaya version. It was issued in a somber reddish brown, with black wire wheels, and overall looks much more realistic. Moreover, there is darker brown one just like it (except for the registration) on the Lane Motor Museum website. (Karl - do you remember seeing this one there? I'll have to check in October). Anyway, this is one of two instances where the supposedly more cheaply made version excels. I'll try doing a "David Knight" here:
Harv, I have the black IXO with the chrome wire wheels and have wondered if those wheels were correct. The detail on the model is outstanding. I also have the red/black Aerodyne which has the disc wheels.
