This Dinky Toys Lincoln Continental number 170 was made in England. It was introduced into the range in October 1964 and withdrawn in 1969. Perhaps this model found its way into your collection in the Christmas of 1964? Alternatively, like me it took a few decades to finally arrive in one's collection. Now stepping back in time I have included a couple of extracts from contemporary magazines reviewing this model.
The first is from Meccano Magazine the house journal for the Meccano Empire but this organisation was taken over by rivals Tri-ang on 14th February 1964. In the October 1964 issue it mentions that this Lincoln was built to 1:42nd scale and the following is from this publication: "Features all the usual Dinky standards: Prestomatic steering, 4-wheel suspension, windows and interior fittings. plus opening bonnet, opening boot, twin-jewelled headlamps. detailed engine and a strong baseplate, die-cast in mazak. Finish is bright and typically American a high lustre flam- buoyant orange body, with white roof and blue seats; plated radiator, bumpers and engine; gleaming metal wheel hubs."
Please note the colour stated was the one that the earlier version was issued in and subsequently blue was selected.
The second is from the totally independent Model Cars magazine. Scale was also mentioned in their October 1964 issue with the following extract: "Dinky P.R.O, George Byrom, advises us of an all-round improvement to their future Dinky Toys releases by the adoption of improved pattern tyres. These now have the word "Dunlop" on the wall and generally feel a somewhat softer tyre than has been available before. Diameter is approximately 5/8”. The first car to have these new tyres will be the 1:42nd scale miniature of Ford's Lincoln Continental we understand, that newly designed wheel centres will also be fitted and look forward to welcoming this new addition to the range."
One overriding factor is that this Dinky Toys Lincoln was in 1:42nd scale, the same scale as Tri-ang's Spot-On range.

Thanks Chris. Great post!
I wish that I had kept this one but sold it along with the Hong Kong 1/42 issues about 20 years ago. I also had it in bronze with white top. I was getting rid of my Americana at the time. Tastes change and now I still wish I had them. Still, you can’t collect everything, given display space available. Nice to be reminded about this one.
Nice, Chris ! Good information on the Dinky Lincoln Continental. Some very interesting extra features included on it, too.
