It has long occurred to me that my collection is mostly just displayed in my home for my enjoyment or the occasional friend or motorhead visitor. i wanted to do something different with it. So given that is is lent and time for almsgiving I thought I would share a small portion of my collection with some folks in a nearby convalescent home. I made contact with the manager who thought that doing a small display for the selected residents might be well received. Some are long term residents with chronic health issues. So packed up my recently completed old time service station and a selection of models and did a 15 minute show and tell for some of the folks there explaining I have been at this model hobby for most of my life. Explained what 43rd scale means and queried them on what type of cars they had owned over their lifetime. If I can get a list, next Friday session I'll see if my inventory includes some of those. One fellow was quite into fire engines, so I can certainly do a display of those soon. It was good to meet them and engage them in some automotive talk and explain a bit of each model displayed and my hobby of custom modeling
.
KUDO'S to you John! What a great thing to do. I've no doubt you brought lots of joy and memories to those you shared your stories and collection with. Pat yourself on the back.
