BTW, I got to drive a 2002 "Mexibeetle" last Saturday. Can you believe it was my first time driving an air-cooled VW?

@mg-harv Harv, where did you drive that Mexibeetle? They must be pretty rare now.  Was it in Mexico?

@david-knight Rally for the Lane. Our Skoda acted up 3/4 of the way through the route. The Lane Museum folks trailer the VW as a rescue vehicle.

@mg-harv From the Weird Coincidences department, I'm currently reading a 1983 novel by Reginald Hill that twice references a Fiat XI/9.

Harv,  You must be the only guy in the USA that has driven a Skoda but never, until now, an air cooled VW Beetle.   But then I've never driven this air cooled MG seen at a local cars & coffee this month, I prefer my water cooled one.

The Bertone X1/9 was very comfortable for such a low car.  A five speed but never got outa 4th on the TN back roads. In fantastic shape with no rust! The suspension might be a little worn out as the handling could have been better.

At lunch and then in the shop!

1987 Bertone
1975 Skoda
