Just wondering if anyone else does this...
I already have the model on display, but then I see another one for sale at an irresistible bargain price, so I buy it to have an "extra one just in case". I only do this with models I really like a lot, but I think I'm up to about 10 by now...

@moe-parr You are not alone. There are more than a few of us who have done this (ahem, David Knight and John Merritt). There have been a couple of the camper models put out by Autocult that are so unique that I have to have more than one. Don’t know why exactly, but it happens on occasion, often as you stated because there’s a deal too great to pass up. For instance, I just bought the older version of the Brooklin Airstream again because it was new in the box for $35.
Yes, me too. I suspect that the majority of use get duplicates once in a while, especially is the second version is available at a great price.
Yeah ! I think I know people who might sometimes actually do that !

I've done this a few times (and ended up 10+ of the same model ).... then reality kicks in, "This is not only a complete waste of money but also very stupid!" 🙄 🙄
Thanks for all the responses, guys! Now I can show the wife I'm not the only "crazy" one 😄

Now wait, what are we talking about here. This doesn't sound like a very sane thing to do, and I would never do something like this. With so many models to buy, why would anyone waste money, no matter how good of a price it is on the same exact model. That just doesn't make good sense.
OK, now that I've allowed the logical and sane side of me to express its opinion, the passionate side has a different story to tell. Just occasionally, mind you, the opportunity to acquire a 2nd or even a 3rd model exactly the same happens. No explanation is needed, one just allows it to happen without thought or reasoning. It can't be explained and I'm not going to even try. But don't tell my wife though, she'd never understand. She already thinks I'm crazy, this information could be enough to have me committed. LOL!

@jcarnutz I'll volunteer as a character reference for you John. Model car duplication is simply a healthy expression of art appreciation....yeah....that's it! Now if it was Barbie dolls....sorry pal, you're on your own.
I've done it both by accident and on purpose. Some folks call this a hobby, but those who are in the know call it an obsession.

It's all very healthy until you start getting mental flashes of pink and green.
If you think about the money many of us spend on this stuff, we may all be a bit crazy. Also, will you be at the Countryside show next weekend?

Well....we can all be proud of doing our part to stimulate the economy.
Sometimes I see a great model that I like but I have taken to checking my Excel spread sheet just to make sure I do not already have that one or a similar one in a different color. But then I sometimes purposely by duplicates if I plan to modify one into something a bit different but usually not with really pricey items. That is the current situation with a pair of Altaya AMC Hornet two door sedans as one is in process of becoming a four door sedan. Photos to follow. And then there was the recently featured 1965 Chevrolet C10 pickup, one of which went from an 6 foot bed to an 8 foot bed.

Yes, of course... I forgot about this. Twice, I purchased replicas, completely forgetting that I already owned them. I'm doing my very best to ensure there will NOT be a 3rd time!
