ACE models of Australia has produced a 1952 Austin A40 ute,  a unique Australian version of the A-40 Devon and Dorset.  A  sort of precursor to the USA Ford Ranchero and Chevrolet El Camino.  Photos will show this Ute is based on the Devon with the smaller front doors.  It also uses the commercial grill versus the fancier saloon grill.   Shown with a circa 1949 Dorset in white metal by Kenna and a 1952 Devon by Pathfinder.   Dorsets were only made in early production but were sold in the USA circa 1949-50.  Sadly most were chopped up by hot rodders and fitted with huge engines with two banks of four cylinders on a common crankshaft for racing.  Few, if any, stock versions survive either in the USA or UK.

I find the Australian Ute interesting and was not aware of such a thing until recently.  As many know the only version I ever saw here in Canada was the standard pickup (below), which were few and far between back in the day, as were the vans.  Loads of A-40 sedans though and a fair number of the 2-door Dorsets.
