I'm sure lots of you keep an eye on the latest Trax issues, but for anyone who doesn't I just lifted these pics from their website which may be of interest.

Ford ZH Fairlane Sportsman (1976) in two colours and pretty neat pinstriping

Ford ZH Fairlane Sportsman 1976 (2)
Ford ZH Fairlane Sportsman (1976)

Chevrolet Bel Air 1959 in two colour options. I'm sure everybody has enough '59 Chevys in one form or another, but still, it's a plain vanilla 4-door, which may appeal to some folks

Chevrolet Bel Air 1959

New colours for the Ford Fairlane 500 (US 1959 model year but labelled as 1960 for Australian consumption as they didn't start importing and selling them until late in the model year)

Ford Fairlane 1960

Chrysler VG Valiant Mexicana coupe (apparently a variant popular in Mexico and South America, hence the name)

Chrysler VG Valiant Mexicana coupe 1971

Chrysler VJ Valiant Town & Country ute. Not exactly subtle (the Ozzies do love their wild-coloured utes) but well detailed

Chrysler VJ Valiant Town & Country ute

No question that Trax are managing to produce resin models to a pretty good standard of detail and finish these days.

Usual drawback for US collectors is that they are RHD. Usual drawback for everybody is their AU$44 overseas shipping charge, which I think is pushing it a bit.

These are great lookign models. It's really too bad they're not available outside Australia as the high cost of shipping makes it hard to see the value. I guess you can consider ordering several at a time, but their production runs are relatively low, and they sell out quickly, making it hard to put a desirable group together. I've written them a few times with no response offered.

I also tried to contact Trax, and also never received a response. My understanding now is that they prefer to sell direct to the consumer, so that leaves us Yanks SOL unless we want to pay exorbitant shipping.

I am currently working out the details of becoming a dealer for Ace Model Cars out of Australia, which also has a number of wonderful Australian vehicles, as well as a few American LHD models. Now that I have a connection Down Under, perhaps I can talk him into obtaining a few Trax models for me as well.

My question to all of you is: How many American collectors would be interested in Australian domestic vehicles? I would like to be able to provide a supply if there is sufficient demand.

I am very excited about receiving the Ace Models! Here are a few LHD models that I have ordered:

In the past I have bought some Trax models. The prices no longer make them something that I consider. I am very interested in the ACE Barracuda.

I have multiple times urged Trax to set up some USA distribution but they are apparently completely disinterested even after I point out that any US sales would be incremental and in no way impact their Australian sales volume.   Therefore, any Trax purchases have to be done via UR Trading with excessive mailing costs making their products non competitive here with the likes of Esval,  Goldvarg, GLM, TSM and others.  They are often slow or non responsive to email messages.

This makes me wonder if Trax were to expand their sales distribution to include North America and perhaps the UK, it might entail expanding their manufacturing operation.  Maybe they feel they are better off in the risky model business to stay at their present level.  Just a guess on my part however.....

@jack-dodds, it may also be that they are as frustrated with shipping charges as much as we are.

New Trax models which are represented in this topic look amazing. In fact, Australian company has a huge range of hgh detailed models.

If I understand correct they are resin built. But I remember the time when Trax was producing excellent diecast models. For instance, a magnificant range of Ford Falcon

Does anybody know what happened? What is a strategy of company today?

In our country the price is about 120 dollars for one model. And you can buy it only by pre- order.

John, I'll mark them as a poor company to do business with. I too have made a number of attempts to contact them, they never reply. Once I even posted pics and big wrap on one of their 1/24s here, and again nothing.

Although their 1/43 offerings are limited at the moment can I suggest you all keep an eye on DDA, Diecast Distributors of Australia. Their 1/24s are outstanding value for money and they are very accurate reproductions. Also they have been very responsive to any queries and suggestions I've made.

Dave, I wish all the best with your venture should you decide to pursue it.

Looked over the Diecast Distributors of Australia site and find 87 screens each with 20 items but did not locate any 43rd scale.  Lots of other scales from tiny to 18th, cars, military, aircraft, ships, etc.   I suspect the shipping on a 24th or 18th item to the USA could be pricey. One of the advantages of resin 43rd is it's compact and relatively light.

You have to search for 1:43 on their site. They have tons.  Click here

Go to their home page, click on "shop," then enter "1:43" in the search box on the upper left.
