I wasn't familiar with this French manufacturer but I loved the way this color looks on this car so I just added it to my fleet.

Then I came across this ad for sale on e-Bay - I guess Cadillac also thought this color suited the car very well!

I have a few Elegance models in my collection. I'm sure that Cadillac Lloyd can shed more light on their models as this is his specialty.

Well, you made a good purchase here. These models (1950 S60) typically sell for $175.00 to $225.00. If your headlights are yellow, it is a Series I and if clear, Series II. If the box is plain cardboard with a typed sticker on one end, it is the second iteration of boxes.

The baseplate on that car should indicate ELE 111, Mfg. between 1984 and 1988, however, according to Claude, he made these in 1985. It appears it is mint condition and has held up well for being about 40 years old. That is true for all Elegance models, unless they have been played with or roughly handled.

He also told me that he attempted to paint some of his models based on Cadillac advertisements. I hope you purchased that ad, it adds a little something to the model, in my opinion.

Below are two photos to illustrate some of the colors.

@karl

On the hobbyDB list, the 9th, 10th and 11th photos are not Elegance models. They should be under the Bruce Arnold listing.

Thx

@lloyd-mecca Thanks for the interesting info, Lloyd! Yes, I purchased that magazine ad.

I was very fortunate to pick up that gorgeous Cadillac on eBay for under $74 shipped!

Here are photos of the baseplate and box:

Thanks, Lloyd.  They are listed as Bruce Arnold Models but "related to" Elegance.   I wonder how they are related?  Did Bruce refinish some Elegance?

@karl

They are not related to Elegance at all. I was a customer of BA, and we spoke about his models and he was proud of the fact that they were made to his (and Cadillac, he said) standards, and were not copies of anything else out there.

Moreover, Claude never discussed any type of issue with BA, good or not.

I suppose whoever listed those was not well acquainted with either model-maker. IMHO.

However, one reason for the confusion could be that in the excellent book, The History of Resin Transport Modelling, A Who's Who in the Industry by David Wright, does show some Elegance models under the Bruce Arnold section which, if read the way I did, illustrates the difference between WM and Resin. Just my quick thoughts.

@lloyd-mecca  Thanks for the details.  I'll delete those "related to's" and add a note to the Bruce Arnold subject.

I just checked my Elegance Catalog, and counted 16 different colors for the 60S, including some two-tone models. I'm sure there are more. However, some colors are rare.

I will wait for a Stamp rendition of a 1950-53 Cadillac 60S and it may come soon. Just my opinion. The details and accuracy I am looking for a model are simply not there.

@nickies You've been pretty consistent in your requirement for strict "accuracy" in your models, and more power to you in that quest.

Each of my model cars has its own special, unique "charm" and overall look and "feel" to it, that to me in many cases is even more important than 100% attention to detail. This Cadillac is surely one of those!
