Both of these are Fantastic models, and I am glad Sergio decided to craft the 1968, as Neo had already done the 1969.

John Kuvakas has done a Fantastic video on the Goldvard 1968 Ford Galaxie 500 XL in Gulfstream Aqua with the headlight doors open, and although I like the color of the aqua one better, I chose to buy this one because I like the headlight doors closed to show that fantastic Ford grill.

You will notice small subtle differences in the bodies of these two beauties. Although the two grills look the same, they have distinct differences. Notice the center of each grill, with the Goldvarg grill having a more 'GT' look, and the center of the Neo grill having a more pronounced 'V' with an 'LTD' appearance, and also the Neo grill has a chrome strip running horizontal through the center of the the grill.

Also, the Goldvarg rear window is flush with the body, and has more of a fastback roof design, as the Neo rear window is much smaller and doesn't run with the back of the body.

Also, the rear lights are different, with the Goldvarg having the split Ford 'Custom' lights, and the Neo sporting the 'LTD' type one piece rear lights.

I am guessing these differences were due to the different years, but if anyone knows better, please correct me.

Growing up, my family had many Ford LTD's, from 4 doors to LTD wagons, and I really like the body styles of all of them.

(I know the Neo is missing one of the front wiper blades, and when I am feeling brave, I will re-attach it)

And I am very much looking forward to the Goldvarg 1967 Ford Country Squire wagon!

Nice comparison Ben. I enjoy getting models whose years are  consecutive in the same body style. Nice to see the subtle differences from one year to the next. I have the Neo 1968 Ford Country Squire and can't wait to get the Goldvarg 1967 Ford Country Squire in metallic green to go along side it.

Great post, Ben! From what I can see, you are correct, the differences are due to the change in model years. Nicely done! I give your post 5 Stars!

I got the aqua 68 Ford but prefer the closed headlight doors.....I still love the model though.  I have this NEO Ford as well; it is well done IMO.  I have ordered the yellow 67 Ford wagon...can't wait for it to arrive.  I also have a 68 Ford Country Squire wagon....by Kess I believe.  Love those 60s Fords...keep 'em coming!

Hi John...I sent it to your private messages. Click on 'My Profile' at the top of any page here on the Zone, and that will bring you to your personal page. Then you will see an option for 'Messages'....click on that and it should bring you to my message.

Please let me know if you still don't see it....maybe the private messages aren't working yet here, and Ill send it to your email instead.
