I had one, waaaay back, but never could get it running, again. I have to agree with Bob, re the uniqueness of the design. It was ahead of its time and for my money, one of the very first USA sports cars.

I love the style of the 1953 Studebaker, actually the entire run of this body from 1953 to 1964 are fantastic. A design ahead of its time in 1953 but held up well against newer offerings from other manufacturers right up to the end.

What a gorgeous and ground-breaking 1953 Studebaker by Raymond Lowey and Associates. I have this beautiful car in 1/43 and 1/18. The GT Hawk was also a remarkably cool follow-on to this classic ..... and Lowey and Assoc. also soon had a further absolute stunner coming up for Studebaker.

But I agree it was a beautiful design, the essence of which lasted even to the last Gran Turismo Hawk.

@l-m-delage Correct... The Franklin Mint produced this 1953 Studebaker - along with 35-ish other '50's & '60's 1/43 cars - about 30 years ago. Production, however, was contracted out to various suppliers, thus, some models are BETTER than others. This Studebaker was one of the better ones. 😉

The Franklin Mint 1953 Studebaker is my favourite of their entire 1/43 series. I still have them all but shudder at a few.

1) 1959 Ford Skyliner - everything works! 😎
2) 1950 Nash convertible.
3) 1953 Studebaker.

Just curious but who do you think manufactured them for the Franklin Mint back in the day. I always stayed away from them because of the pictures I used to see on eBay.
