A recent post compared the Brooklin ‘58 Yeoman to the Trax Biscayne 4 door noting correctly that Brooklin has never done any ‘58 Chevy sedans, the Impala coupe and the Yeoman wagons being the only ones from ‘58. I was thinking that a guy named Pete Kenna, who did a number of variants for Brooklin, was the one who used the Impala casting to create the Yeoman wagon for Brooklin. I consulted our Brooklin expert, John Roberts, who confirmed that most likely it was indeed Pete Kenna who created the wagon using the coupe as a basis. That meant removing the Impala top, reworking the sides to create a four door with proper trim converted to a Del Ray/Yeoman configuration. The biggest challenge must have been reworking the rear end to go from three tail lights to one on each side to accommodate the tailgate configuration. Then would come fabricating a 4 door wagon top. The result was a beautiful Chevy four door wagon.
Thes pictures suggest how this conversion took place. Two of my favorite Brooklins.
