When I started collecting Brooklin's, the Ford Thunderbird models that they offered were top on my list for a look-see. The 1st one I added was the '65 version. I was very pleased with it, although I wished it was in a different color. That led me to look at the '67 but put that on hold for the time. It was about a year later that I purchased a '56 version, also in red. To be honest, this model wasn't as impressive as the '65. I found to be a bit chunky; it lacked the svelte look I felt the Thunderbird had. My example also came with a broken front license plate. So, back into its box it went and into a cabinet 'til another time.
It was a few years later that I saw some posts from David Knight with a model he was redoing and then sometime later a few more he had in his collection. My interest was renewed after forgetting about them, I started doing some research on all of the models Brooklin had done for the '56 version as well as the '55. The 1st one I bought was a replacement for the damaged '56 in red (it actually took two of them to get a good one). With parts from the third (badly damaged) model, I was able to put two good ones together. One with black wall tires and one as fitted from the factory, with whitewalls. Don't ask me why, but I was seeing the model differently now and I was even more intrigued by the others. So, starting in early 2023, I began acquiring some other examples. But more on those coming up in subsequent posts.
Here's the 1st of two of the '56 Thunderbird models in Fiesta Red. BRK 13a originally issued in 1982.

This model has lots of potential. I picked one up last fall for $15 and stripped it to bare metal. I'm in the process of repainting it coral with a white roof ,detailing it inside and out and adding Kelsey Hayes wheels. Unfortunately, with the cold weather, the project is on hold until the spring as all my painting is done in my unheated garage.
