With the recent release of Stamp's 1960 Buick Electra 225 I brought out another that has been in my collection for a number of years to have a side-by-side comparison of the two models.

The NEO/American Excellence Hardtop Sedan was issued in 2013. All things considered; the model has held up well.

The two are equal in length and width as the scale appears to be the same. The newer Stamp model has finer details in the grill and other chrome features. The taillights on the Stamp model are much better with the red plastic vs. the painted ones on the NEO, the chrome accents are better defined as well. With that the only really glaring difference between the two is the tailpipes on the NEO version, I'll have to trim those down. If I recall NEO exaggerated this feature on a couple of models. In addition, the headlights on my NEO model are starting to yellow some, with one being very prominent.  Not sure if there's a fix for that. I doctored the photos to minimize the overall look of the headlights.

Side by side these are both very nice models, and I am pleased with them. The NEO has long been a favorite of mine since I bought it years ago. As far as I know, the NEO 1960 Buick was the only one offered until the Stamp's release, although it was issued in a few colors. I have three of them. A Dark Red & White (Titian Red & Arctic White) and a Gold (Pearl Fawn). I believe a solid black was issued too; I've seen photos but not the model.

The '59 Buick has been covered nicely with hardtops, convertibles, wagons and hardtop sedans being issued by Western/WMCE an well as a pair hardtop sedans issued a few years ago by Kess. I can only hope that the 1960 receives the same treatment with a few more releases.

Here's a couple of photos of the two together. I think they make a nice pair.

Looking at my database, I see that NEO also issued a 1960 version of an ambulance and a hearse, I'd forgotten about them. I have the ambulance but not the hearse.

The convertible is Knock Out!! On the NEO, it looks like the exhausts may be OK just hanging too far down. Any way to tuck them back up closer to the frame?
