GLM & Stamp Cadillacs......
I am 100% in agreement with the comments and pictures showing how incorrect the side crease on the 1968 Cadillac Convertible is made. There is no excuse for this error.
I'm not sure I am seeing a banana shape to the side view of the car. The error is a deal breaker for me. I will pass on this model.
I, however have studied the GLM 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special, and I'm just not seeing how this is a bad model. I am in love with it.
Can someone explain what is wrong, or where the errors are on this car. I can't see it. I bought it, and am glad I did, since it seems to be sold out.
I recommended this car to Sergio a long time ago, way before GLM produced it. Now I see for the first time, that Sergio has made a prototype of the car. I'm surprized that it took this long for anyone to recognize what a good model this would make.
Anyway, please point out what is wrong with this car. I really like it.
One other thing, while I'm on my soapbox. I don't know if it is possible, but on my email inbox page, I am able to click on a red star, so I can find an email that I want to go back to. It takes forever to find an old post on the Forum, if I want to refer back to something that was written, or some picture I want to see again. It would really be helpful. Maybe it is already possible to save something and I just don't know how to do it. What do you think, John?
Here you are Ray, ( pics )
That 58 Cadillac is mine. So nobody will say I am coming up with obscure sources....
2 other collector friends have also bought this Cadillac... same problems.
First, a light banana shape...light but visible and annoying.

Then this crappy lower body piece. As that piece seems correct when it stops on the rear bumper edge, It's not a bad adjustment, it's the entire piece that seem shrunken. And I dare anybody to try to unglue this thing and repair...

Both of the 58 Fleetwood that have been shown on the forum lately also have that problem. Sorry guys, this is not meant to hurt your feelings. I have no fun at all pointing that. How could these models be released and sent to collectors like this, with no one over there checking, and have no answer back from GLM when issues pointed out to them?
I am a nice guy, but my patience have limits...
So...
you want more ?...
Here is the 68 Coupe. This one isn't mine.
Talking about a banana shape and an horrible chrome adhesive job ?

Who will take a chance to buy ?
Through Google I found the Mint Models Facebook page where there is an announcement of this forthcoming model, from Dec.25, 2019, and the photos of the model show that lower piece to be of appropriate size on the driver's side. No straight on side view of the passenger side but it may also be correct. My blue model has the same problem on each side that is under discussion here. Perhaps someone out there has a model with appropriate-sized lower pieces on each side? Any chance GLM would make good on replacing these?

First, thank you for explaining the problems with your Cadillac, and I see the problems you have, and I agree with your observations. If that was my model, I would return it to the vendor and either trade it or get a refund.
You have not hurt my feelings, because I removed my model from the box and examined it. I don't have those problems. The rocker molding lines up with the front wheel opening molding and the bottom of the doors like up perfectly. If there is a banana shape, I don;t see it, The only thing I see is a little uptick to the end of the molding on the rear doors, which is the same on both sides.
I think if we want to pick a car apart, we can if we look long enough. I am 100% satisfied with my car and I don't see anything wrong with it.
I definitely agree with you regarding the Stamp 1968 Convertible and now, also the 1967 Coupe DeVille. I don't think I will buy either one. I will have to look closely at the 1965 Eldorado Convertible, because I have been considering it.
I'd be interested in what Bob Jackman has to say about his 1958 Fleetwood, Bob, any problems? Mine is a keeper, and I am fussy.
I now have 3 CMF models, and would heartily recommend them for quality. No problems with Goldvarg, some Esval (mot all), some NEO (not all), same for Brooklin. I've been happy with GLM, so far. I try to look them over closely before I buy them, and haven't been stung yet.
Ray I agree with your comments completely. I can certainly understand why Jean Phillippe is critical of the model based on his picture. Apparently the quality of the model is dependent on the worker who applies the trim pieces. Obviously the QC is not consistent. Like you I am very pleased with my example.
thanks a lot jean philippe , mercy to you i ll buy the future 58 cad from goldvarg
Would you say that the result of an older Record model detailed is superior?
[PICS] Couldn't help noticing the front bumper has shrunk as well.
It ought to reach the front wheel cut-out and actually extend slightly beyond its leading edge

whereas on the GLM...

Makes it look like an accident car that has been roughly thrown back together!

Yes, 30+ years and no problems with it.
Thanks to Jean-Phillippe for his informative work. Sorry to see these rejects
Made it to market. I am curious, with the many channels out there, did folks get their model from a reputable vendor? Rejects from some factories may turn up on eBay and other sites?
GLM / Stamp
GLM used to contract Matrix group to create their Masters but terminated that relationship some time ago stating that they would use their own development team instead. Perhaps the move is not proving entirely successful.
I got mine from a reputable vendor: Carmodel.

Got my disastrous 58 Fleetwood also from Carmodel
I am very pleased with both of my 58 Cadillac models. They may not be perfect, but they are just excellent for me.

1958 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special, checked the front bumper.......
on my 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood. It is exactly like the Black car in the photo. Correct, with no problem.
I have a feeling this poor workmanship is on a batch of Turquoise models, and does not affect the Black ones that were made by someone else, or at another station.
I would return the model. Just my opinion.
PS My model did not come from Carmodel, but did originate in Germany.
