I bought this model in Europe a while back. It was listed as 1998 Jeep Skaife Overland by Pitstop Models.

There is a bunch of issues with this.

Obviously, it's not a 1998, unless it refers to a custom build and the model depicts that specific car. The Jeep looks like a modern creature.

I can't find the word "Skaife" in any language.

"Overland" - there was a French manufacturer of Jeep-like vehicles called Auverland. It was active in 1998, but their cars were not based on the Jeep and did not look like one.

Pistop Models - there is a model shop in Australia named like that, but it seems to be unrelated.

Any ideas?

Albert, I did a little research and found that Pitstop Models is an Australian firm producing 1:43 models at least since 2011 and perhaps earlier. It seems that Pitstop dated this Jeep as a 1998 1:1 master for their 1:43 model.  I agree with you that the styling of this Jeep is decades earlier than 1998.

Auverland (Société nouvelle des automobiles Auverland), now grouped with Panhard, is a French manufacturer of Jeep-like four-wheel-drive and armoured fighting vehicles. It bought Panhard from Peugeot in April 2005, and in a reverse takeover the combined company now uses the better known Panhard name. (from Wikipedia)

The term "Overland" was the Overland Automotive division of Standard Wheel and was purchased in 1908 by automotive pioneer John Willys.  He then formed the company of Willys-Overland, which was an American automobile producing company for many years.  During World War II, Willys-Overland became famous as the originator and primary producer of the Jeep, which they continued after the war.  The name "Overland" was dropped in 1953 when Kaiser Corporation purchased Willys-Overland.  As its ownership changed over the following decades, Willys became Jeep and is now part of Chrysler under Fiat ownership.

The term "Skaife" seems to be an old English family name.  A modern Australian racing car driver/producer of that name (Mark Skaife) could be somehow tied to this model, but I cannot find a specific connection.

PITSTOP is an Australian firm with an extensive web site.  You might start with

Thanks for giving an old man a little mental exercise.  Sorry I couldn't find a more definitive answer.    David H

@d-m-holcombe Thanks, David. I knew about the old Overland name, but these Jeeps never carried this name.

Albert, I have added some more bits and pieces to original attempt.  And I saw another of these Pitstop Jeeps for sale on eBay.  Kind of interesting but not enough for my $$$!     Have fun.  David H

In AU, I see several ads for real Jeep Overland... , so I bet it was a Jeep made for/by race car driver Mark Scaife in 1998!  Definitely not online anywhere though!
