In the new Hemmings "Classic Car" magazine, 1977 Firebird

Trans-Am models in 1:43 got a brief review which was very positive. They're available in three different colors (black/black, white/blue, yellow/red) and are resin models, allegedly highly-detailed. They're at AutoWorldStore.com.

This is not an ad for the cars; I'm not selling them or pushing them. I saw them in the magazine and am not familiar with them. Do any collectors here have any of them and, if so, what do you think? You can find them on the website by searching for Firebird and scrolling down a little way. Have any of you dealt with this company before (I haven't)?

Thanks.

These models were previously sold under the "Round 2 Collectibles" label produced for and sold by Auto World Store. I think they've been around for at least a couple of years.

You can take a look at the full range at Diecast Direct

I have their "Christine" Plymouth, which is nicely done apart from the side spear having a slightly crude texturing to it but otherwise it's a pretty good, crisply detailed model. If I remember rightly, I bought it direct from AutoWorld without any problem.

I have to say that in the pictures at least the Firebirds look a little clumsy in comparison with the crispness of the Plymouth (kind of Ertl standard rather than Neo) but maybe that's unfair. Anyway, you can blow up the pictures on the Diecast Direct site and see how they look to you.

I have the black one.

It's nicely detailed but the pinstriping is not accurately rendered and, I thought, the wheels left a little to be desired with the raised white letters on the tired being very large. Other than that, it's a nicely done model.

Thanks, Graeme. I wasn't aware of their history. And where they look a little unrefined to me is in the T-roof brace, the fore-to-aft piece, where it looks thick and kind of crude.

But for $70, it may be okay. I just don't collect resin models as a rule, and wanted to get some opinions from others. I appreciate the info!

I have the Buick Grand National, which is a pretty good replica.

Certainly more Neo than Ertl! I've been pondering getting their Chevelle.

Nice! I just saw that they also have the Regal T-Types in silver and in white. Dang, I wish they'd made it in maroon, then I could have another 1/43 replica of a 1:1 I owned! May have to snag that GN, though.

I thought Rockford Files when your post said 1977 Firebird.

To me that would be more interesting than the striped and decaled Trans Am version. It would be easier to produce, too, I bet.
