Today’s post is unclear as I have tried to wade through conflicting information such as clearly different cars supposedly bearing the same chassis numbers and so forth. But my aim is to highlight the elegant Jeancart style and assertain its early chronology.
Variously referred to as the Goutte d’Eau or Tear Drop, the Figoni Et Falaschi style 9220 was officially named “New York” as the initial example, mounted on chassis Nº 90103 was first presented at the New York Auto Show between 27th. October and  3rd. November 1937. It's first owner was the celebrated Australian sportsman, socialite and official Figoni Et Falaschi concessionaire, Freddy McEvoy. This is listed as having been finished by 29th. July 1937.
The present post however regards a distinct sub-genre of which three examples are known to exist today, Figoni et Falaschi style 9221 Bis (B) and officially named “Jeancart” after its first owner, a leading industrialist and regular Figoni client whose first name is difficult to find, despite the surname appearing frequently with regard to Figoni et Falaschi orders.
That first “Jeancart”, mounted on chassis Nº 90101 is listed as having been finished by 21st. April 1937 and is also said to be the first Goutte d’Eau mounted on Talbot-Lago chassis, so it is curious to note that the later example is given an earlier design registration number and the first, being listed as an off-shoot design concept. It is worth noting also that Talbot-Lago were given exclusive rights to the 9220 New York design.
The basic form of the New York style 9220 however, existed in Joseph Figoni’s 1935 to ’36 Delayes and seen also in his 1936 Delage special, (as indeed was the notch-back roofline) its novelty lying in its grille and recessed headlamp treatment.
The Jeancart is noteworthy for its wider rear body width - with rear cockpit space encroaching further out into the rear fenders, 'flattening' the rear fender's appearance and lending the whole a closed-wing butterfly demeanour, which we see repeated in various Figoni styles into the 1940s; a notch-back roof-line and split rear window, all of which, give the style a completely separate look to its 9220, New York cousin.
As more rational styles gained favour through 1938 / '39, a further development of the Jeeancart style was Design Nº 9222 which had open wheel arches front and rear, presenting a more sports sedan look.
The Ixo Museum model shown is the only 1/43 Jeancart I have seen and is not a particularly happy representation as the surfaces leading from engine cowl towards the front wings which envelope the recessed and grilled headlamps, were not painted in the engine cowl colour, as would be expected, but as part of the front wing, giving the engine cowl a more pointed, rather than buff appearance that we should expect.  I have retouched this with paint as best I can. Further, I cannot say what chassis number the present 1/43 model is supposed to represent or if it is supposed to be merely ‘indicative’ of the style.
(any further information and or corrections would be appreciated).

Well, it may be slightly off.....  but it's quite attractive, in a classic color-combo too.

I don't know a lot about these cars other than they are beautiful works of art. I do have two models in 1/24 scale that were done by Motor City many years ago.

@bob-jackman It would be great to see them regardless of the thread's scale.

@geoff-jowett It's a very nice model. I wonder if yours is 1/24 and if so, whether it has the same issue with the paint on the engine cowl, where the central colour should extend out, in-line with the headlamps.  I remember at the time there was some discussion over the IXO model because of this.

Oh Charles if only mine was a 1/24! One of the most prized models in any scale, the Motor City 1/24 Talbot Lagos. I'm pretty sure some of our fellow collectors here have one or more of them. They are stunning. Please just go to Google images.

Mine is the IXO Museum Collection 1/43, and yes indeed I see the problem! Some nice detail regardless!

Sorry about the pic quality early evening over here.

No front end problem on the Motor City 1/24 version

@geoff-jowett The Motor City models are indeed fabulous and the IXO is very nice too.  As I said, it's the only notch roofline Teardrop I've found so I am grateful and do love it!

OMG! I'd be half collapsed in a chair with people fanning me after seeing those! What a experience that would have been Tony

@perrone1 I do envy you, your trips to the Monterey Concours d'Elegance - perhaps the premiere such show in the world.  Like Geoff, I'd probably need resuscitation after the art overdose. These are all Figoni save the dark blue which I believe is by Marcel Pourtout - who had a nice touch with rear roofline; fender; and trunk treatments.  Thank-you for adding your fabulous photos.

@geoff-jowett Indeed, I did offer a little prod in the hope he might share a picture or two.
