Found this model on eBay, half of the original price, wanted the model for long time... Unfortunately the chrome of the PE trim is peeling off. Is this a common issue with this model or I was just unlucky? Thanks.

I am really surprised with the Minichamp's chrome issue.  😯 But I don't have this one, so can't compare...  Otherwise, it's a gorgeous model!

@karl Since I bought this on the secondary market it is possible that it happened because of improper storage (high humidity  perhaps) although the model appears undisplayed.
I got it for $65, so it is not worth returning it and looking for another one…. Will probably end up removing the trim (it is already half undone) polishing the chrome out to steel finish and putting it back.

I reviewed this model for Legacy right after it came out in 2012. I have not seen issues with the Minichamps resin models, which have always been kept in an air-conditioned home. I couldn't find the review but here are some pics:

@mg-harv Thanks for the pictures! It seems your model has the same issue to a lesser degree on the right side.

I discovered something interesting, the chromed PE parts are actually covered with clear coat, which means there were installed defective!

Scrape and polish works but is a very tedious task; and dangerous too, as you can see I broke the piece, which wont be a problem since it happened at the hinge.

@chav I pulled mine out and checked it - it's OK. But in an edition of 1948 items, I do not expect the perfection of, let's say, a VDM handbuilt.

@mg-harv Agree, I understand the limitations. Just needed to decide whether to repair it or to look for better model. Appreciate your expertise!

This repair is finally done. Pulled the sidewise PE trim, scraped it, "polished" it (since these are made of steel, polishing is such as time and labor consuming task, so not perfectly done). While manipulating the model several parts fell off. Remounting of the fog lights was a nightmare ... Also had to make wipers from scratch as the original wipers were oversized and period incorrect. I've done many other repairs on 1:43 models, but after this one I have whole new level of appreciation how much skilled labor goes in the assembly of each one of these. Here are few pictures ... the wipers were made from the same beading needles I used for the Duesenberg wipers, however this time I used the ends of a needle and the result is slightly better. Hopefully the pictures are self-explanatory.
