RR and Bentley finished their grumpy divorce with Bentley heading to the VW group and RR to BMW. The first of the massive new RRs were the Phantom LWB and this outlandishly over-the-top converible. There was a RR *ahem* emporium near my office, and if I was dressed up for a meeting in high-end shoes [closeout on The Bay], I stopped in to see if parts dept had carried any new 1:43 models by Minichamps/ Paul's Model Art. I actually got to stand next to this beast which was so oversized that the front fender came up to my sternum.
This model shows Minichamps at the top of their game. The headlight and tail light lenses are great and the interior detailing gorgeous. Plus two outstanding details. Visible in the footwell are two detailed pedals, but the accelerator is all I barely catch with my iphone after scores of attempts while also holding a penlight. Then note the clear image of the side of the car in the side view mirror!
Sorry for the duplicate, but otherwise enjoy!
.....the optional teakwood boot is a must. Nice to see it in 1/43.
Great looking model, Mark. I’ll have to look for this one.
@mg-harv Im almost positive that all Phantoms had revised front ends and headlights after about 2008 so this may really be another 'first edition' Phantom. I'll try to find out.
