I hate to admit this but..... I don't think I ever knew there was once a 1949 Cadillac Coupe de Ville show car....which turns out to be the OLDEST surviving GM "Motorama" Dream car. Wow, what a car, what a story! Great looking model too, thanks Randy.
Interesting. I saw the '49 Cadillac Coupe de Ville show car a few years ago. I didn't know anything about it when I saw it that day. I remember doing a bit of research after that. The car I saw was a dark gray w/a very light gray roof. My understanding it was the only Cadillac hardtop built for the Motorama show, so not sure about the other colors Matrix is offering. Interesting.
Here's the one I saw.

What a gorgeous car; I wonder why they decided not to produce it? The owner is sure enamored with it and rightfully proud. I love the look of it and the extra length really suits it; makes it all the more elegant.
It is a nice model but my first impression was that the roof isn't quite high enough; the windows appear a bit too short compared to the 1:1.

Chris, whaddya ya think.... Is it Plum Crazy or In Violet ?
You will notice that the '49 Cadillac coupe de ville showcar in the above video is owned by Steve Plunkett of London, Ontario, Canada. He is also the owner of the 1934 Cadillac V16 Victoria Convertible which Stamp is bringing out in late spring.

John, that CDV show car you saw, is the one featured in this video; Steve probably trailered it from Ontario. Also, I thought Steve noted (in the video ) that there were five '49 CDV show cars.
- Still can't believe I didn't know about this one. 😬 😬 😬
@chris
I watched the video, I heard that too. I remember at the time only finding info on this one and no others. When I get a chance I’ll research some more. I did find that this one was the only survivor, so maybe the others were destroyed. That won’t stop me from getting the red as well because it looks great in that color. The black doesn’t do anything for me. Authenticity isn’t as important as quality of the model. If it looks good and they made it well, I’m usually in for it.
I think in was in 2013 that I saw this one. I recall Steve Plunkett being there too.

OMG! How do you sleep at night?? I'm the polar-opposite. 😬 😬 😬 😬 😬 If I can't PROVE it existed, I don't want it. "Different strokes," right? 🙄
@jcarnutz The Coupe De Ville is well known from Cadillac enthusiasts of the period and well documented in Archives. Only one of these has been built and the correct color is Gunmetal with a light grey top as in the video. As for me, I prefer authenticity AND quality. If a model has not both, I pass.
Here is some additional pictures and facts on this outstanding automobile.

Here is an interesting archive of the complete 1949 GM Unlimited Transportation Exhibition. This is the Waldorf Astoria Event.
@nickies Great video, thanks! GM once ruled the world; their global dominance not only influenced culture and helped craft a brighter future, but also provided countless thousands with entertaining exhibits such as this. One can easily see that GM had its finger on the pulse of the nation.
