@jcarnutz The Coupe De Ville is well known from Cadillac enthusiasts of the period and well documented in Archives. Only one of these has been built and the correct color is Gunmetal with a light grey top as in the video. As for me, I prefer authenticity AND quality. If a model has not both, I pass.
In the video it appears to be a purple-ish color.
That's why I made that comment to Chris.

Yes, I caught that.... in reference to the Cuda on Forum 18. 😏 😀 😏
Hi All,
Roy Schneider's Cadillac of the Forties does a good job covering the details of the 4 special Cadillac show cars at the 1949 Autorama.
The cars shown were:
The Caribbean (Based on the 1949 Sixty-Special)
The Embassy (Also based on the 1949 Sixty-Special)
The El Rancho (A westernized Series 62 Convertible)
And
The Coupe DeVille by Fleetwood (Matrix's Subject)
In Roy's notes, the car was finished in gunmetal. The car most likely survived because Charles E Wilson (GM president at the time) took it as his personal vehicle. He later gifted it to his secretary in 1957.
There are also photo's in his book of the car taken in 1976 where it appears to be black with a black vinyl top. I say appears because the photo's are in B&W.
Looking forward to adding this (in gun metal) to the collection.
Cheers!
Alfred
With Googles help, you can see Roy's info and more pictures in the 1949 section of the below link.
