I got a VERY good deal on this Newcon #1 Ferrari GTO many years at a Chicago Ferrari dealer because it had been dropped on the floor. I have finally decided to replace the wooden block and am looking for suggestions on a replacement rear wheel(s) and touch up paint. Anyone?

Thanks,
David

It looks like a terrific Ferrari and is well worth fixing up. Red on a Ferrari ..... who would of thought !? Smile

Is the wire wheel smashed, so you need a wheel and tire?  if so perhaps new wheels and tires would be an option. Can you sand down the rear spoiler and paint it black? Did you look on ebay for wheel and tire sets?

Would be easier than matching the red?

Newcon as small and will be impossible to find replacement wheels...

You might seek out some BBR wheel/tire sets on ebay and swap all 4.

Thanks for your comments. Back in the mid 80s I owned a Ferrari and, of course, started 1/43 Ferrari collection. Even without the internet, I was able to track down some shops that sold Ferrari parts, wheels, tires, photoetch, decals, etc. That is the kind of supplier I hoped someone here had dealt with lately. Didn't find anything on eBay or with a general search.

I did find a listing for Competition Wire Wheels (3-Ear Nuts) by Tameo Kits for about $40 shipped from Grand Prix Models in England. If I don't track down something better, I will take a shot with these, even though I remember assembling a wire wheel kit is very fiddly.

(Also, I don't think I could bring myself to paint the spoiler black.)

PS - I sold almost all the Ferrari collection a while back.

I know what you mean by the black!  Otherwise, will you strip the whole car and repaint?  Might not be a good option either.

These people have 1/43 tires and wheels -  I am on their email list but never bought from them...

@karl Thanks, they had a full set for a reasonable price, they are on order along with some items for a rare 1/12 RC Ferrari.

Update: About three weeks to get to the Central Hoosier Flatlands from France. Not bad.

Plus -
The sizes are, as the hot rodders like to say, 'big and littles'.
Got both 2-ear and (correct) 3-ear knock offs.

Minus -
Only got one brass rod for an axle (I have more brass rods).
Need to dull the wheels behind the spokes to make them stand out.

Will get them on the 'to do' list soon.

Comments?

I found these wheels in a store on Etsy (of all places!). This GeminiModelcars has a number of 1/43 detail parts available. Took a while for the wheels to ship but everything OK after that.
