No Brooklin Photo Gallery today?
Brooklin has been closed all week. They traditionally close for the week after Easter.
I miss it too, but we'll just have to wait until next Friday!
Funny...I knew they were closed but went there anyway right before coming here.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
Yes, no Brooklin update until next week, so here's a substitute (PICS)
Every so often I have a severe attack of model-maker's frenzy. I've decided that after all these years it's incurable so I have to live with it. Those of a nervous disposition please go direct to another post...
The first picture shows an unsuspecting and completely innocent 1954 Buick Station Wagon, made by Brooklin. The carnage that follows was wreaked in front of this model and it will probably never be the same again.

Two Buicks are involved in the following pictures. One is used as the body shell, the other donates the panels - doors, tailgate, and bonnet (or hood).
First the rough cut where the panels are removed from the shell, plus the rough cut panels waiting to be filed and sanded to size.

The shell is beginning to be ready for the next stage which will be polishing, painting and detailing.
To cut white metal to these very thin areas tests the capability of white metal to its limits. There have been three places where the shell has cracked. One is the base of the dog-leg of the windscreen and the other two are the scuttle where the holes for the wipers are pre-drilled. These areas are currently being supported by small pieces of plasticard glued into place.
The next job will be to sand and file all the door apertures to a fine smooth finish. After this the panels will all be filed to size. The interior tub has had the sides taken out.
Eventually I hope to have a Buick with all panels open and full engine detail. I may open the glove-box lid on the dash and cut out the spare wheel panel, showing the spare in place with the lid propped to one side.
That's the problem with these model-maker's frenzy attacks...you never know when they are going to subside!

Wow, talk about model makers art! Writing as someone who has the manual dexterity of a turtle, I am amazed at how you accomplish the fine cuts necessary for all of this. Very instructive pics and text. Thanks and hope for more on this project.
John, that's incredible! Keep the pictures coming.
