Pic: Now about that model car that comes in that fancy case

Given all the discussion of Brooklin's new boxes, it might be easy to miss the fact that it looks like Brooklin has scored another hit with the '53 Ford Customline Fordor sedan tucked way down inside that complex packaging. From Mike Coup's images (post #24100) the shape, proportions and details are accurately replicated. While it doesn't yet have the clear headlights, both the front headlight housings and the rear taillights are correctly sized, the rear capturing that Ford look of the '52-'54 models. One can hope the actual paint on the model will more correctly match the actual Seafoam Green. The model represents the actual car close to perfection and elicits memories of that attractive design. And for balance it's nice to see a plain Jane, ordinary four door pillared sedan along with the more upscale models.

Pictured below is a '53 Customline Club Coupe I spotted here in my hometown of Richmond which I sent to Collectible Automobile Magazine which appeared in the February 2018 issue. I think it shows how closely the Brooklin model resembles an actual '53 model. I hope, as Albert Mopans pointed out in his post below (#24102.8) the one screw mounting the car on the plinth inside that case will be enough to secure the model for the rough handling to which packages are subject by the USPS and Royal Mail.

As I look at this '53 Ford and recall the many years of fine cars produced (Pinto excluded) by Ford, I think of today's announcement that Ford will essentially exit the passenger car business at least in North America in favor of building trucks, crossovers and SUV's. Seems that the bean counters at Ford have decided to follow the money. The times they are achangin'.

I love this plain but pretty body style on the 49 to 54 Ford.

Yes me too. Let's hope they do this body style in time.
