(Pics) 1932 Maybach Zeppelin by Minichamps
So, I finally got this whipped to shape. On the whole a very nice model, but I had to do a few little adjustments. For one, the other spare wheel was at a decided angle, so I removed it and re-aligned it so it's not as lopsided as it was. A bigger change was trimming the headlights to sit lower as they were originally just a smidge too high on the stalks. Looks much better now I think. Also had to realign the hood ornament as it was bothersomely off-centre, which is something I never like doing unless necessary due to how small those pieces are to handle.
As usual for Minichamps, they don't come with plates, so those I made myself. Also got rid of the side windows for a full cabriolet look (which were up only on the front doors). And the more annoying bit was that the emblematic Zeppelin-text placed on the bridge between the headlights was missing on my copy (preview pics show it should be there), so I made something of a replacement, crude'ish as it necessarily is. But with these little fix-ups (some annoying I actually had to do), makes for a pretty sweet model. And I got this for only 40 Euro, so a might cheaper than $5000! The open top, by the way, is made of PVC plastic, so it has a soft texture, a nice detail over the usual hard plastic.

Nice modifcations Jani. I have this one too.
I bought the first version in cream/black. Minichamps has been pouring out the color variations since.
Good job Jani...
As Harv, I also have the 1st Minichamps rendition in cream and dark blue. I bought it from a another collector in a Spanish forum...
