This is a Western Models 1/43 kit of the ultra-modern step-down Hudson 4-door fastback sedan for '48. The big mono-built Commodore could be had with a straight-eight and was top-of-the-line for that year.

It was the wise car shopper in 1948 that would step up to a step-down.

Great settings for a fine model, Mike, and I thank you for posting them.  Just for fun, here's my oldest Hudson model, a Team Caliber from about 20 years ago.

Good memories of those old Hudsons, even though I never owned one.   David H

One more shot to show you what ate up the tracks, including Oldsmobiles and even some early Chrysler 300's (mostly on the turns).

Is that the Super Chief pulling out of Albuquerque?  Great train photos!

Lol, it sure is, Karl. In this case, it's the Super Chief refueling at Albuquerque on it's long distance run of Chicago-LA.  It's one of a large series of Jack Delano photos (many of railways) taken officially for the U.S. government. Here, it's actually a bit early for this Hudson Commodore, which has appeared magically from out of the future in March, 1943.
