Some time ago, Dark Horse Models did a fine 1/43 replica of the great-looking 1950 Oldsmobile coupe. Here it is in yellow with a black roof.

That is, indeed, a great-looking replica!

Resin or metal? I'm not familiar with "Dark Horse".

@moe-parr It's a resin model and for the money was a very good deal.  This Olds was also done in 2-tone blue which looked great.  I am not certain but I think they are no longer in business.

When it's difficult to tell the scale of a model, it's done well! This is such an example - great dimensions and detail. Mike, your photos are fantastic!

@perrone1, HA! I can usually tell by the size. The smaller scales are...well...smaller.

Mike's photos usually make the cars look so real. This 1/43rd could have been passed off as a larger model in my view. It's done really well. Oh, and I also saw another Dark Horse 1/43rd - a taxi done in two different colors! Not done as nicely as this 50 Olds.

@perrone1, I agree. I was just being stupid. I've never seen those '31 Fords before. Do you know if they are recent?

No idea John. Until today I hadn't heard of Dark Horse. But seeing Mike's, I found one each on eBay, two-tone blue and the yellow, and these two Taxis. The wheels look funny for '30's cars though I think.

Thanks ! I had heard the story years ago that Dark Horse had been formed (officially or perhaps unofficially) to release 1/43 resins of models that were not quite up to the detail or other standards that a company had required from the factories they used. If they were "rejected" items, they sure seem to look fine to me. The price was low and very reasonable. They certainly fit in great on display or in conjunction with other 1/43 replicas.

Great pictures, Mike.  I have both colors and they are excellent models.  I got them at bargain basement prices to boot.

When these Dark Horse Oldsmobiles were available I got one to add to my range of 1949-50 Oldsmobiles.    Here are some others.  Does anyone have the very rare 1949 98 Brooklin convertible which is not pictured here?
