Studebaker did a fine job in directing the re-styling of the original '53 Lowey coupe into this cool Hawk sports-type car. Here, it is very nicely done in 1/43 by Yat Ming.

Thanks, Bob ! During these years Studebaker was a client of my Dad's and around this time (1963) Studebaker was touting the nice further  re-design of the Gran Turismo Hawk. Here's a promo "megaphone" I have from back then that he had.

@mikedetorrice What a great piece of automotive history. I remember your stories and pictures of your dad working with Studebaker back in the day. The stories your dad could tell must have been wonderful to a car crazy kid.

Thanks Bob. You are quite right .... when you are a kid or young, you don't always realize the interesting, or perhaps important .... or even historical things that may be happening to you or to people around that you know.

Fantastic photos, Mike - I hope you have fun memories from those times!  You are right, when you are a kid, things just happen and you think everyone is the same as you.  Years later, you realize what special times you had.

Thanks, Karl ! Yes, I do have some good memories ! Time itself does tend to usually recall interesting and enjoyable events.

This thread of posts has been fascinating starting with Yat Ming’s Studebaker Hawk followed by pictures of many replicas by other manufacturers and then photos of family connections with Studebaker. Thanks to all who followed Mike’s original post.

Nothing as fascinating as the models and all Mike's old photo, but I did go up to South bend a few times, to the museum and to tour the old factory and offices.  They planned to redevelop them; wonder how far they got?

Very interesting, Karl ! I am glad there are both a museum and tours in South Bend of historic wagon maker ........and then automobile maker, Studebaker.  Many years ago I recall an article on people/collectors finding many Studebaker prototypes and test vehicles in an old overgrown wooded area near the car plant

The red interior of my later-day Corgi Golden Hawk (as in Harv's collection) bothered me, so I changed it to an optic white. Some might think it's too bright but I'm happy with it.   You can barely see it in the picture, but I'm afraid I don't have it to hand to photograph again.

Nice re-do to some colors you prefer ! Of course, that is always the main thing ..... if you are happy with it is fine and that is all that counts !
