I loaded up the Subaru and headed back to Elkhart, IN, the RV manufacturing capitol of the world and the home of the RV/MH Hall of Fame museum. I had to get creative by rearranging the six display cases to make more room for my latest acquisitions.
Here’s a Tomica camper that John Kuliak gave me at the Chicago show to add to the collection:
And some nice additions from our esteemed moderator @jkuvakas (the blue and white trucks in the front row):
Today was also special because I was adding a collection of one-off models hand built by Dean Tennis, who passed away in 2021. Here’s Dean with his cherished Model A and Chummy, his custom teardrop trailer:
I recently made a connection with his daughter in California and came to financial terms that allowed me to keep the collection together and on display for all to see. They’re a cool addition to the exhibit (middle row). They’re all made initially from wood blocks and then painted or covered in metal sheets.
Here are the newly rearranged cases on exhibit:
I also enjoy adding a few details to the displays to build out the camping theme:
If you ever find yourself in the area, I recommend a visit!
GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! Very nice work...in every sense of the word! 😏 😏
Impressive Randy and the perfect place to display your wonderful collection. This is a must see for any visit to Elkhart, Indiana.
Great additions - and that really is a Wee Weber! 😲
Simply amazing Randy. You are truly a great ambassador for the miniature vehicle hobby.
Excellent ! This really is a great miniature display you are doing.
Many years ago, I went here and saw all the great R/V's and the very nice model display they also had at that time.
