Pics: 2003 Thunderbird by Maisto

A picture of a light blue 2003 Ford Thunderbird parked in the fishing village on Martha's Vineyard is among pictures of Maisto's 1:43 scale Thunderbird parked at my 1:43 scale model summer house also on the Vineyard in Chilmark. I had hoped to post these pictures last summer but could not post until I learned the new process! Apparently the Maisto 'bird in 1:43 was sold only through Walmart.

I have one too David - nice replica from their Road & Track series.

And yes, came from Wally Mart around 1999 or 2000.

[PICS] I have a hardtop version which is also quite nicely done.

Hardtop and open convertible are both marked "Road Signature" on the base, no mention of Maisto, but it seems to be the same model as yours. I don't know where I got mine. Certainly not WalMart, probably eBay.

I thought Road Signature was a Yatming brand name, but maybe they are all the same company?

Yet another model where a black wash on those wheels would improve the appearance.

I purchased mine from Walmart in 2000 at about $12.00 a copy as I recall. I bought two. The 'bird was still a concept car though the production model was virtually identical to the concept.

Minichamps also did one in black though I don't think the top was removable. The Maisto version is really quite good.

Minichamps also did the 007 Die Another Day version in an orangey red.

Halle Barry's character Jinx drove it. Issued in 2002, allong with Zao's Jag XKR and Bond's Aston Vanquish. Ford owned all three brands in the movie.

Not sure if there was a possiblle connection between Maisto circa 2000 and YatMing a dozen or more years later. But who knows.

And there was a Jaguar XK8 roadster in this Road & Track series

Dark metallic blue and quite a handsome model.

Kinda makes me want to run out and get one of those pretty

T-brds. then I remember that they're Fords and my pulse slows down.
