Isn't that a 1959?

This Ford is probably the most popular of all the FM 1:43 models. Mine, too!

While I like it and have it, my favorite of the FM 1/43rds is the Pontiac GTO Judge.

The Plymouth Fury and '53 Studebaker are also very nice. FM did a nice job on many of their 43rds, including the '56 Nomad, the Rambler sedan, and the Olds Starfire convertible.

I've often wondered why FM made their doors open on the 1/43rds.

Have you ever tried climbing into a 1/43rd scale model? It can't be done. Also no one makes little people that have articulated appendages. And when you look at these little gems, the door shut lines look maybe a scale inch or more gap. I actually think it killed a lot of sales. Who buys opening doors over scale realism? Uncle Fred for his nephew? Maybe. Not collectors.

The shut lines on a few were pretty good, particularly the 59 Ford and the Judge.
