You are fortunate, Jay, to have one in the Chicago livery version.

There are plenty yellow taxis still available but apparently none of the ones like yours. I have been looking for a Chicago version and a very few are available but only in 1:18.

Don't have the Ertl, but how about an Altaya (Ixo) version?

Ixo also made the usual Yellow Cab version. I wasn't sure if they would ever make the Chicago Checker one, so I grabbed the partworks version. Now if they would just make the Blue Island cab, a '70's Chicago street scene would be complete.

Here's the Altaya with the Road Champs Caprice, whose colors are actually more authentic:

And some cop cars:

There is a black Dallas version also. IXO/Altaya.

As a high school student I walked by the house where they had a Superba as the family hack. I saw it almost every day. A civiilian car in burgundy I think. But it had never been a cab for hire. The family was 7 or 8 kids too, and their dad was a state senator.

Pics: Hard to believe that this Nissan NV200 is the current successor to the venerable Checker.

as well as to the Impalas and Crown Vics that followed the Checkers This Model by Realtoy is a fairly decent replica of this controversial choice by New Yorkv City as the Taxi of the Future,

Aerobus by Ixo.

Hi, the Aerobus was a gift model for subscribing the second partworks series released in Europe. I was luck to find one being sold in France years ago at reasonable value. Its a diecast from IXO.

Thanks, Sergio. You were fortunate to acquire the Aerobus. It’s a beauty.

I would love to see this model available in the U.S. Again, a great display of Checker taxis.

I'm hoping that when the partworks series runs its course many of these interesting diecasts will be launched for the wider market. If they incurred the expense of the tooling for a diecast model I would hope they would later broaden their market for these. Thoughts?

John, you and I are on the same page on this one.

I think there would be a market over here for these models, and as you point out the expense to produce them has already provided the tooling.
