The truth is the AE/Neo models are selling out regardless of what a few folks like or dont like,I believe the old saying, If you dont like something, Dont buy it.

I'm not saying that I dislike the color (I just bought one)..

what I am trying to find out however are the correct facts. That's all.

Frank, Facts are that the colors you mentioned were the featured colors on the 72-73 TA but In those days the dealers could order their cars in any color that was on the GM color charts in those years.I recall ordering a navaho orange for a customer and it went well with other buyers so we ordered more. And the beat goes on.

If you don't like Neo....don't buy them. Sounds like a......

.....pretty simple solution to your problem!

Or do what I did - write to Jaap, point out the errors, and wait for a new one!

There's a difference between Cruise-in Orange and Concours Orange, too.

Navajo Orange Poly was a '73 offering, and a different color than '72's Sundance Orange Poly, but neither are quite the "Nehi Orange" as the TA model wears. As Patty said, maybe it's the photo.

I just saw the complete NEO range (except the dealer-only specials) last weekend at the Veterama Show in Mannheim, Germany, and admit that they make some great models. We must also admit that they make mistakes, too, and that this color is not Bucaneer Red.

So, either the year is wrong, or the color is wrong, and we know this isn't the first time either has occurred. As others have opined, buy it if you like it.

I assume you understood I was not serious about this proposition?

My problem is more with the fact that the new models are nitpicked to death, often on basis of incomplete or sometimes incorrect information.

I do not doubt that NEO/AE make mistakes, but I also am too familiar with the length some model makers go to, to collate all the information before they give the go-ahead on a model, something either not realized or completely discounted!

So far I have only ever bought one NEO/AE model (the Volvo 343 which I then have modified to represent the Volvo X-1 speed record car) and they as have yet not made any LSR models, but I have seen a fair few of their offerings.

As you stated, the choice is clear: do you buy a model that was never done before (the case with many NEO model) and in a few cases accept a minor error, or is all you see the mistakes which spoil the model for you, then you also have two choices: don't buy it, or do buy it and correct the mistakes!

Cheers,
Arie

Agree with you, Tom....The Orange pictured is not the same Orange offered....

....and I don't think anyone has made statements that were not correct. If your color is off, your color is off. Why should collectors have to take it and just go with it?

I never bought that initial two-tone 1958 Impala that wasn't an Impala because of the horrendously incorrect color scheme. Why? Simple research would have eliminated that mistake. As I mentioned, I did buy the Cay Coral one because their 58 Impala is indeed a beautiful, beautiful model. No one denies NEO makes outstanding models. It is their color inaccuracies that is detracting from their fine offerings.

But we don't have to blind ourselves or take the prevalent attitude of "don't buy it if you don't like it." Shouldn't we be able to call out manufacturers on wrong or inaccurate models so they can improve?

I don't think anyone here has been unreasonable in pointing out when NEO has simply gotten things wrong.
