One of my favorite models. A Precision Miniatures 1/43 Lincoln Capri in Pan Am Road Race decoration. The model was made by Nestor and the figure painted by Cricket. I have three different versions of Pan Am Lincolns that were built by Nestor. The decals were printed at Microscale from artwork we did a long time ago. The figure decals were printed on an Alps. May have shown them before, but I think the figure is almost more interesting than the model.

Thanks, Jack! I have not heard the name of Cricket in a long time.  Is she still around?  That's a great figure!  And car!

What Karl said, I too wonder what happened to Ms. Rumford. She used to post here, always enjoyed the pics she shared with us.

Hi Guys

It has been a long long time since I have seen or talked to Cricket or Nestor. Occasionally I visit their website to see what they are doing. Always great to see the cars and driver figures they are making. Pretty amazing stuff. I think the last time I saw Cricket was at Peggy Jones’s shop in Costa Mesa and that has been closed for a long time. A little more info. Lloyd Jones (Peggy's husband) passed away last year. He was a graphic artist and author and did most of the early PM decal artwork for their models. His son Mark Jones, I talk to frequently is also a graphic artist and world class model builder. Mark also does the decal artwork and the 3D modeling of cars for the slot car company AFX.

That looks very cool. I don't think I've seen this before.

Hi John

This was going to a kit from PM, but was never produced.  Not sure why, but Gene and Lloyd may have already sold the business to the guy who did the Lincoln with the Santa Claus and this was lost in the shuffle.  Several years after PM changed hands, Lloyd A gave me all the castings and parts to make the Pan Am Lincoln.  This included a new base, interior, rims, roll bar and black inserts for the tires.  All we needed was a few decals.  I did the artwork and printed some of the easy stuff and MS did the hard stuff.  Have decals for a couple other versions. Never learned how to foil the chrome so never finished the other versions.  Below is a link to Nestor and Cricket's website showing the couple of versions that we did complete.  (Nestor did the building all I did was the decals)

Hi Guys

Attached is a pic of the parts for the PM Lincoln Capri convertible.  The interesting part (to me) is how PM made white wall tires.  The tires and an inserts were injection molded.  Thus either a white wall or a black wall could be made by changing inserts.  The same basic tire could be used for road cars with white walls or the race car with black walls.  Lloyd A made all or most of the tires for Alan N at Motor City.  Attached is a pic of the small Arburgs that PM used to make tires.  The blue machine is the tire maker, the other machine is one I got from Lloyd A and makes model police car lightbars.  The gray machine was given to PM by Alan N, I think when he decided he did not want to be bothered making tires.  The machine was in pieces when I got it and was rebuild with a few new pieces a long time ago.  Would like to try and make tires, but was never be able to make a mold.
