Opening features are not liked by collectors looking for super accuracy but I sort of like these Franklin Mint items where you can open the hood and see the big 308 cubic inch Hudson six, or the Desoto Hemi, the Buick "nail head V8", the Chrysler Spitfire straight 8 and the Studebaker early V8, the Rambler flathead 6, and many others. FM did a great job on engine bay details. It's all about automotive history and engines are a big part of that in my opinion.

Ditto. Love to see the engine.
You can also inspect the interior of a sedan more easily.

Kyosho and Auto Art have done some spectacular 1:43 models with opening features.
Harvey Goranson turned me on to the Kyosho Ferraris which have incredible engine and chassis detail not to mention opening doors and trunks. Auto Art's Lamborghini Miura is a jewel with opening features. So is their D Type Jaguar. I'd put the shut lines on any of these models right up there with the best of 1:24 & 1:18.

+1. When you can read "Fram" on the battery case, that's detail.
The late, lamented HPI race cars really set the bar high.
