I have been informed that Ray Pazkiewicz has passed.

Ray was Champion of the 1/43 hobby. He was involved with Victory Models and was a long time collector of scale cars and some 1/1 vehicles.

He will be missed.

Sorry to hear that.

His models are one of about three that continue to hold or increase in value.

I didn't know him but have heard/read a fair bit of positive things about him in recent years on this Forum.  May God bless him....RIP.

I'm pretty sure that I remember seeing pictures of him at some of the 143rd shows that you were having. He always looked like he was having a good time.

Sorry for his family. Maybe Mr.K has a pic to share with us.

Thank, Dirn, for passing on the sad news.  I don't see an obituary online,. but if you do, please let us know.

I never spoke to Ray in person but did email with him, last time in 2019.  He sent me all the photos he could find at that time so I could upload them to hobbyDB.  Here is Ray measuring the Checker Cab he did in 1/43...

And for those not familiar with Victory Models which I believe was Ray Pazkiewicz's project here are two 1938 Buick models in resin.  Very nice examples.  I'm sure there were others as well.

I comunicated with Ray many times over the years and have about 20 of his models in my collection. All of the Victory models I have are of cars of the late thirties and early forties made of resin and highly detailed for the time. RIP Ray, you were truly a car guy.

@john-quilter  In GM in Miniature, Randall Olson mentioned his Buick came out in 1999 and he partnered with CCC (France, resin) to make it using Ray's documentation and photos.  The Buicks were in his cheaper La Familia series.  He also mentioned that ray owned the Lilliput Motor Car Company.  Did anyone hear about that before?

So sorry to hear of Ray's passing. I don't have any Victorys, sadly. Every time I spotted one for sale, either a part was missing or the bidding went too high - perhaps a testament to the high regard collectors placed on the models.

I do recall Lilliput Motor Company,  probably bought some things from them ages ago.  The Victory Buick sedan i has a little plaque on the base plate that reads La Familia,  A Victory Series, No 1 1938 Special Series 40,  By G Pont-CCC.

The Victory name for models, or toys, was also used in the UK in the 1950s for plastic models about 1:18th scale.   They were powered buy a small electric motor and three dry cell batteries.   I believe they did an Austin Somerset,  MGA,  and I know at least two versions of the Morris Minor.  (some poster will know the others)  My 1953 one was a gift to me in 1955 as a 7 year old child from the USA importers based in NYC after I wrote them a letter asking about where I could find a Morris Minor model.  They kindly sent me this one probably from some staff person's desk,  as it was then not the current version of the Minor.   I have carefully preserved it for 68 years since although it did not entice me to take up collecting 18th scale models.

I am deeply saddened by this. Ray was a fantastic guy. He gave me loads of info on two models I have. I had posted these two Hudson models several years ago and he had 1st hand knowledge of both. I only spoke to him on the phone once, but we emailed each other several times. I will miss him.

I owned the La Familia 1938 Buicks about 20 years ago when I was collecting exclusively Buicks in 1/43 scale. Under the Victory brand, he did a green 1940 Buick Super Sedan that was really nice as a resin model.
