Anybody has ever heard of a Datsun 240Z in 1/43 scale? I stopped by the Hallmark store during the weekend and I found one in their new collection for 2023. I had to buy it because the color is the same as the one I owned and still in my family. I am not bothered the trim is silver because the 1:1 is not really polished stainless steel. The only chrome parts were the bumpers and the finish was real cheap.

This is not a bad model for $22.

Is this an ornament? If so, where's the loop for the hanger?

I have a 1/43 by Ignition, though it has aftermarket real-car upgrades. They are correct for a car that was at a Japanese version of the SEMA show a few years ago. Note the carbon fiber hood, aftermarket wheels, and extended wheel arches.

@mg-harv This is a nice model but I have no interest in modified cars. I removed the hook for display.

I sure have heard of the Datsun 240Z. I bought a 1972 Datsun 240Z in October 1972, kept it until March 1982, and it is one of my favorite cars I owned.  The first four pictures show a 1/43 scale model by Oxford Diecast in the same yellow color as mine.  It is a UK version with RHD and a few trim differences, It cost about $40 plus shipping.

The fifth picture shows my 1:1 scale car in 1975.  When I bought it new in 1972, I paid about $4,700 including taxes.

@ed-davis The 1:1 I gave to my son 15 years ago is a 1972 still with its original paint and interior with the rare A/C option. As for the model you have, it is very nice with the Minilite wheels and represents the 240Z very well. My wife first car was a 1970 yellow like yours when we started dating in the 70's.

How many miles are on your car?  I had about 78,000 miles on mine when I sold it in March 1982.

@ed-davis It now has 120K. I bought it in 1995 with 15K. It was complete showroom and still have the dash pad in perfect condition. They are the kind of classic cars that need a lot of maintenance getting older. Of course, all mechanicals have been done many times but the engine only once 5 years ago. I will try to find pictures.

What a great car to get Datsun noticed in the USA car market !!!

I remember seeing lots of them down here in SoCal as I was growing up I moved here in 67.

I had a friend for a bit that had a 260Z  two plus two I'm pretty sure it was a 260 and we used to have fun driving that around trying to pick up some dates for the night LOL

Nice! The body looks in great condition. Living in Chicago and the suburbs, rust was always a concern, especially the rear fenders. Even though I had the car rust proofed, I still had rust problems. For 1973 Datsun made improvements to lessen the rear fender rust problem.

What a great-looking 1/43 Datsun 240Z ! I have a Hallmark 1947 Chevrolet pickup from them and it is also very nicely done.

The earliest 240-Z design of the various "Z" cars throughout the years is the best looking IMHO.  My favorite color for it was the dark green, but there were many beautiful colors offered; orange was my second favorite, then red.

@jack-dodds

I agree with you about the earliest 240Z design (1970 to 1972) being the best. My favorite color was yellow followed by green. I had friends with this car in orange, black, and yellow.

I have a few Hallmark ornament models but I pick only the ones that are close to, or exactly, 43rd scale.   An early Datsun 240 Z model in 43rd scale should be 3.76 inches long.  What is this one?
