This message from Dale Dannefer:

Greetings friends,

This is a note to share the sad news that Ray Paszkiewicz's son Raymond called me this morning to tell me that Ray passed away, yesterday i believe it was.  I was in touch with Ray by phone wihtin the last two weeks - he had been in the hospital and struggling with health issues for some time, but remained eager to discuss 1/43 models and upcoming projects.

As you probably know, Ray was the founder/owner of Victory Models and the spinoff La Familia series of exceptional 1/43 resin models, starting I think at the end of the 1980s and extending through the early 2000s.  He was also a top automotive literature collector and dealer, and was incredibly knowledgeable about automobilies, especially 20th century American cars.

@dirn

I never knew Ray, but it seems he was well known and appreciated in the hobby. He will be missed by many.

I have a copy of Victory's 1941 Studebaker President which is a lovely model that captures its time perfectly. I have tried to get more, but as others here have noted, they are in great demand. Reading posts here, Mr. Paszkiewicz has given a great deal to many and will clearly be missed.

Very sad news indeed! Although Ray never posted after Form 43 converted to the new platform, I enjoyed reading his posts on the old form. He was extremely knowledgeable and posted some very interesting posts on the old form. It almost seemed that a part of him was still living in the 40s.I always took away something I didn't know from Rays posts.He had a keen sense of cars from that era and knew what cars to choose to make models. His models reflected the character and soul of the car better than any model manufacturer that I have know. RIP Ray.

Ray actually read the forum every day. Occasionally, he would send comments to me to post them without mentioning his name. He was an asset to the hobby and a great guy.
