Amanda says, (there)"will be charging a handling fee of £12.00, plus a minimum cost per part of £1.50 plus a maximum of 6 items per order."
Here's what the "Spare Parts" tab on the website now says:
- Minimum charge of £ 12.00 plus parts and postage.
- Minimum price per item is £ 1.50.
- Maximum order of 6 parts per order.
For cars now out of production when and until we have those parts in stock.

So it is not a minimum charge of 12 GBP - they need to re-write their website and call it a 'handling fee'! Plus its for new models just shipped - so a big change in policy. Not obvious from their spare parts tab...
John; from your comments above, it looks like some people took advantage of Brooklin's previous "generous" parts program (ie;regularly ordering over 20 parts and far more at a time). I'm going to go out on a limb and guess these people were in the business to pickup broken/missing parts Brooklins at a cheap price, fix them up and resell them for a profit or simply to build their collection with cheap Brooklins. The new parts fees should stop them dead in their tracks. Bravo for Brooklin!! I can't imagine myself needing over 20 parts at a time-I have a very lot of Brooklins but not more than 6 needing a door handle, mirror. or antenna. It seems that these people have ruined it for the rest of us ie:the collectors that only needs to replace a part that fell off and was lost.It is now going to cost us dearly.
I think i ordered only three times in the last fifteen years some parts from Brooklin. I ordered also some parts from Mike Stephens (Western Models). Generally it was to get wipers so thin and fragile to install that they remained in a flask containing pills. I think i will try avoid to buy older models without parts in the future.

Indeed it does. But it appears he hasn't figured out how to get into the new forum structure.
I get the Brooklin reasoning behind this fee; IMO its still a great service and I appreciate being able to find such parts that might get broken or lost from models bought years ago.

I'm guilty of repairing old Brooklins for my collection, never for resale, and never more than one model a year and I've never ordered more than 3-4 parts at a time so the new policy is designed to curtail the abusers of this service. It is unfortunate the the one size policy has to fit all.

@jack-dodds I totally agree with your opinion and am glad that Brooklin are going to continue this service which was so nearly discontinued. It is a service that is not available from SMTS in respect of Conquest / Madison etc.
Why not adopt a preferred collectors policy? Brooklin will know who the genuine collectors are; members of the Brooklin Collectors' Club, long term customers etc. They may also have a record of those who have abused the system. It might mean a more work, and no doubt for the unfortunate Amanda, but at least the Brooklin Brotherhood wouldn't be offended nor alienated.
Mike. I think you partly touched on where Brooklin's focus should be. Check their records and identify the abusers. However, being a member of the Brooklin Collector's Club or a long time collector does not exclude them from being an abuser. I think Brooklin is moving in the right direction by limiting parts to six. This is very reasonable. Yes, it will cost more, but at least we have the option of being able to get parts and we should be thankful for that. Brooklin could have made the decision to scrap the program.
