Excellent review John. I would also give the model five stars for weight...a brick by  Brooklin standards.

Another great videoo John!

I couldn't wait to watch it here, so I watched it on Brooklins youtube account.

Do you get a cut for model sales directed from your videos?

This is the 5th model I bought after watching your videos!

Update: that was a different video than the video on the Brooklin youtube account.

A new video but on the same model. I totally enjoyed both of them John,

Thank you.

I have this one on the way from Brooklin, and if anyone is interested, they have this model at 20% off the retail price, so now is the time to get one.

@ben-lampson, Thanks.

I receive no commission on sales but I usually get the model for free or at a nice discount. The first few videos were very time-consuming and difficult. Now that I have developed a workflow, each video takes about 3-4 hours counting the time it takes to research the vehicle and bring the various images together. I had to purchase some studio lighting, a decent microphone, and a better camera, not to mention some multi-functional video and audio editing software. Kelly, my wife, has been patient with having the "studio" set up in our dining room for weeks at a time.

With all that, I'm having a great time and still learning how everything works. The encouragement I get from the makers and the great support I receive from the forums has kept me going through all the fumbles and mistakes I've made and will likely make in the future. I love this hobby and wanted to find a way to give back.

With Brooklin, I cut one video for them and their site and another for "My Take." The videos have to have different content due to YouTube's policy of not allowing the same video to be broadcast on different channels.

Here's something you and Forum 43 can help me with. I've been thinking about tweaking the Five Star Rating system. It includes 6 areas of grading; fidelity, trim/lensing/badging, color, interior detail, wheels & tires, and value. I try to give an honest rating in each. Clearly, these are only my opinion. But, most of the new models grade out fairly well in those areas. This usually nets somewhere between 22-30 out of a possible thirty points which equates to 4-4.75 stars with a very small handful of models receiving a full five-star rating.

Do you think it would be more helpful to change to a total-points rating? Instead of 4.75 stars, 25 out of 30 points?

I would love to hear from you and others. I know this is fairly inconsequential given all that's going in our lives. But, Hey! We're supposed to be having fun, right?

Much deserved John..... It is very evident that a lot of time and more than a few bucks goes into these videos.

And we thank your wife for excusing her home being intruded on for our enjoyment.

And your question on my opinion for judging the cars, I am really not sure.

I like the way you are doing it now.

John, I'll add my voice to the praise on the videos.  I understand all the preparation and effort that goes into them because I am allegedly the video director/master at my small company - that's the label you get when you try to get everyone to make a video and you push for quality Smile

Regarding the scoring system, I think having the total out of 30 would be more interesting and you won't have to worry about rounding errors. 26 or 28 /30 might both round to 4.5 but the total score would show the difference.

Just my 2 cents (out of 100).

Every one is an excellent presentation. I've watched them all, even the ones like the Hudson that I already have and have for a long time. You bring so many great things to light in the videos.

Thank-you for all of your time and continued excellence in the presentation.

John,

I enjoy each video.  They are both entertaining and educational.  I appreciate your professionalism and expertise that is provided in in each one.  I applaud your efforts and hard work, and look forward to many more.

As for your question regarding the "rating system", for what my humble opinion is worth, I say leave it as is.  As you pointed out, even though very few models receive a "5 Star Rating", I think it is important to have that as the highest rating for those models that are deserving of it.

Be proud of your work John, you are providing all of us valued information.

George

This is an outstanding video presentation, as they all have been. You're a natural in front of the camera and with great subjects like this '51 Hudson gem from Brooklin, it's a treat to get an overview of these 1/43 replicas.
