Stamp "diecast" with opening features:

Interesting indeed.  I'm fine with static models but if anyone could pull this off it would be GLM/Stamp.

@whodeytink I'm hoping Stamp "re-visits"  some of their 1/18 sealed resins.....    I'll take a "full-function diecast"  of this in less than a heartbeat!    👍 👍 👍

Great, but they gotta do the doors as well! I mean, FM managed it years ago, and I'm sure Stamp could do it with tidier shutlines.

And while they're at it, maybe they could add a nice, sloppy Cadillac spring suspension as well. Then I would have a new model I could really get down on the floor and play with, instead of just putting it on a shelf. Yeah, that would be nice.

I CERTAINLY applaud Stamp's efforts - and sincerely hope - they move up  to doing some 1/18 in full-function diecast - my money is waiting!   But like you, I thought it curious that the Cadillac's doors are sealed.

HOWEVER....  these are EARLY prototype pics, so who knows?        Perhaps everything you desire will come to fruition.    "Fingers crossed!"     😉 😉 😉

Nice work, Chris.  Your skills allow you to get the shut lines just right but for mass production models it's hit or miss, thus my acceptance of static models.  

I wonder, would a collector pay much more for opening features?  Stamp will soon find out.

I think that they are jumping on the bandwagon in order to survive and they are showing us their interest in the recent popularity of 1/64 Chinese diecast with opening features. GFCC for example has been offering opening hood and trunks for some time but no opening doors in order to preserve the lines and profile of the model. I will bet that Stamp does the same thing. This venture is to test the market for low price diecasts in 1/43 scale with a high level of detail. With difficult times and the uncertain economics in the world right now ie: shipping costs, tariffs,higher production costs, etc. they can produce thousands of these in a single run  and spread their costs over a larger production run. Small run production as in resin models is no longer working in this new environment. Just refer back to Randy's post A Model Maker Responds- Thoughts from Autocult Co-founder. Resin models are now approaching $200 . The higher the price, the more specialized and smaller the market becomes. Just look what happened to Duesenberg, Pierce Arrow in difficult times .Take note: this venture by Stamp is the future of modelling. Small production run white metal models has gone by the wayside and so will resin. Accept it and just move on. Diecast survived difficult times in the past and will continue to survive in the future.

Just another thought. If you collected 1/18 scale diecasts back in the early 2000's, you could go into any Walmart, Target , or Toys r Us and buy Ertls, Sunstars, and Road Legends for under $30. I once bought 3 Ertls at Walmart for $10 each on sale. Road Legend would make 5,000 models in a run and sell them all to Walmart. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Stamp made these diecasts in the same quantity and negotiated  with Walmart to carry their products. Walmart and Stamp: are you listening?. We can only dream.
