One of the best perks about collecting white metal models is feeling the heft of the model when it's in your hands.ย
I love my resin models, but they don't give that type of satisfaction.
I have always wondered how much my white metal models weigh, so here are weights measured in ounces for the first 10 models in an 8 part series.
(I have about 80 white metal models)
You can play the video song while enjoying the pics....but you might want to watch the video, as it has Sally Field flipping off a cop while riding shot gun in a Trans Am.
ย
#1. The heavyweight title for this series goes to my Conquest 1955 DeSoto hardtop weighing in at a staggering 14.99 ounces.
(about an ounce shy of a pound)
ย
#2. 2nd place goes to my NB Center 1954 Cadillac at 14.65 ounces.
ย
#3. And weighing the same as the Caddy, my Conquest DeSoto wagon also tips the scales at 14.65 ounces.
ย
#4. Then 3rd place heavyweight goes to my Conquest 1958 Pontiac Bonneville at 14.57 ounces.
ย
#5. The Brooklin NB Center Chrysler Town & Country weighs in at 13.65 ounces. (I guessed this would be the heaviest of this series)
ย
#6. We have another tie, with the Brooklin 1942 Oldsmobile woody wagon in at 13.40 ounces.
ย
#7. And also at 13.40 ounces, is the Madison 1950 Oldsmobile Futuramic 98 fastback.
ย
#8. Next up we have the Brooklin 1942 Oldsmobile fastback coming in at 13.05 ounces.
ย
#9. Next is the WMCE 1941 Buick woody wagon in at 12.13 ounces.
ย
#10. And last for series 1 of the heavy metal weigh ins, but certainly not least, is the very popular NB Center Pontiac Torpedo fastback in at 11.57 ounces.
Very interesting information Ben. Iโm getting my scales out to see which are the heaviest in my collection. You have an excellent collection of vehicles here.
Very interesting. I know they are heavy. When moving models from my display cabinets to my desk for photos (or outside when going there) I put six models in a plastic shoebox styled tote. I usually try to balance the models between resin & white metal, sometimes that is not always doable, like yesterday, when most of the models brought out were white metal-same for today & tomorrow.ย

Oops sorry. That is an amazing group of models. I have all of them (a couple in different colors) except the Buick Wagon-I still need to secure one of those.

lol Karl, very witty! All these models are worth their weight in gold! I was surprised that the Conquest '55 DeSoto out weighed the NB Center Town & Country.
