@perrone1 So we, too, have been traveling there a lot, all the way back to childhood when we went tent and pop up camping there every summer. It's what rooted my interest in scale model campers, in fact. I continued the tradition with my wife and kids for years. During our last trip to Durago, we were getting on the plane and Julie said, "I don't wanna leave." I said, "Well, let's make a plan so one day we don't have to."

That plan is now underway, 5 years later. We'll be residing in Thornton, a northern suburb of Denver, although it feels like we're out in the boonies compared to our urban living today. We were fortunate to find a new build home ready to move in and it has a finished basement with lots (lots!) of wall space for display cabinets.

And yes, we love Colorado Springs and go to Garden of the Gods every time we're in the area. And Pikes Peak is quite the treat although my wife would have preferred I watch the road rather than stare off into the scenery!

We've found we're different and better people in the mountains with all the blue sky and sunshine. If all goes well, we'll be loading up and moving by July. We close on our Colorado home on 4/20, the same day as our 35th wedding anniversary.

Congratulations on your move Randy.  We did the same sort of thing nearly 5 years ago and it was just what the doctor ordered; turn the page to a fresh start, wide open spaces, more sunshine, huge lake around the corner, small town kindness and peacefulness......I could go on.  I'm sure you and the missus are going to love it!  Best of luck!

@perrone1 My wife's family moved to Estes Park from Chicago when she was 13 years old. They used to go there every year on vacation when the owner of the resort told her father he was selling the property and moving to Arizona. Her dad immediately decided this was the dream of a lifetime and bought the place. The resort was the Aspen Lodge which they owned for many years. When her dad retired he sold the resort and also moved to Arizona.
