The model car hall of fame has come out with their list and as usual some terrible voting choices.
While I'm glad two appropriate Goldvargs made the cut, I am astounded at the other three choices. The Goldvargs include the '53 Ford Country Squire and the Ford F100 Pan-Am ladder truck, a bit unusual in that the wagon goes back to mid-2018 and the Pan-Am truck is a future release. Just what is the time frame here anyway?
The chosen AutoCult is the Skoda Spartak Polytex - how obscure can you get? I know AutoCult makes some oddball stuff but there were some much better choices this calendar year like the 1906 Benz, Monza GT, Alfa BAT9, and Mercedes C111.
Fourth on the list is the American Excellence Plymouth XNR which appears to be a copy/reissue of the Matrix model of the same car from 2016 - should we reward a company for this non-original thinking? Besides Neo had a few better and original ones in 2018-19, such as the Chrysler Flightsweep.
The Replicarz Lor Schell Indy racer is a good model but just a repaint of their excellent Boyle Special from 2017. The Replicarz 1952 Agajanian Special, which actually won the Indy 500 and actually came out this year, would have been a better and more relevant choice for the list.
No GLM or Matrix choices this year. So who is coming up with these lists? What is the time frame for models to be included as choices?
I think we should start our own MCOTY....
What's your top 3 choices?
For 2019, how about these:
photo no longer available
photo no longer available

Harv, those three are all good choices. There are better Goldvargs than the Country Squire.
Perhaps the '61 Impala then?
This is a great idea. I'll bet we can get some room on the site for a feature.
We should come up with a set of rules for eligibility then find a way to take votes. Maybe some of us can get together this weekend?

I'm in too. I wonder what their rules are? The selection is weird. Transparent rules for selection and voting are important. Just be prepared, there are some toes waiting to be stepped on.
