Hello all, pleased to be back on the forum after a while. I have an ever growing collection of predominantly 1/43 resin cars of American and British origin, hopefully you will indulge me if I showcase some of my favourites (or absolute horrors - there have been a few).
I like to what I call "improve" some of them (or devalue to put it another way); certainly wheels and tyres are a particular bugbear of mine. Be they too wide, fat, shiny or just too low in the body I reckon many models are improved by changing the tyres. Oh, and thick thindscreen wipers too, although that's mainly an issue on cheaper diecasts. I'll detail what I've done when I remember.
A couple of the most recent buys have been the Australian TRAX line. Have to say these are my favourite at the moment, I reckon they are cracking models. Have seven so far and more on order. Luckily Australia was a market for US and UK cars so fits my collecting criteria nicely. One has to pay a fair whack in VAT, import and postage costs to the UK but hey, you're only young once.
Here's their 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air sedan and '58 Dodge Custom Lancer. This Chevvy may be my favourite model at the moment and certainly makes NEO's lame 2dr hard top effort look pretty silly by comparison. Both have had whitewall tyres added but that's it.
Two very nice models. Nice to see some 4 drs. I would love to see Trax do some left hand drive models for the North American markets.
I owned a white Chevy just about like this one, a 4 door. It was thoroughly dependable, easy riding, and big enough to sleep in (which I never tried). Good car! I drove it for several years. Of course, mine had the steering wheel on the left.

A while back they did do a model of a LHD Mercury Capri convertible which was made in Australia and exported to North America as LHD. The 1:1 was circa 1991-94. That's the only LHD vehicle they have done to my knowledge. After many attempts to encourage them to as least set up a US vendor they seem disinterested in pursuing the US market for their models.

I agree about NEO's 60 Impala ht. The chrome grille surround is way too thick for starters.
I have to say if I like a model and it fits my collecting criteria I don't care what side the steering wheel is on! I'm not averse to putting on a US license plate to 'Americanise' a model either.
@john-quilter trax have done the Ford Customline in LHD too, in twotone.
Interesting, what year was that Ford?

This Trax Chevrolet and Dodge look excellent ! Really nice models that display well in these photos.
And here are a couple more Trax American cars, a 1958 Chevrolet Biscayne (shown with a NEO convertible) and a 1962 Dodge which Trax calls a Phoenix but is the same as a Dart in the USA.

That '62 Dodge Phoenix is really nice isn't it. Couldn't make my mind up between the blue and the red one but went for the blue in the end. Looking at yours I think I prefer the red!
@carlo14. I think that it has been posted on the form before, but where can you buy the Trax American cars??
I buy them all direct from TRAX's own website in Australia. They are very good and always reply promptly. As mentioned they are expensive to buy in the UK due to VAT, import and delivery charges but it doesn't bother me, if I want something I tend to buy it. Certainly cheaper than the real thing.
