Tulipwood
The Western models Hispano Suiza Tulipwood auction has ended. And I am glad to inform that it will move to the Netherlands. Perhaps it was a bit too expensive, but I have been looking for a Tulipwood, even if not in 1/43. Now I have one that is even the right scale.
Martjin - here is a bombshell the wood used wasn't tulipwood!

Okay, Chris. Three sources voted 2 for tulipwood and 1 for mahogany. Your answer?
Really don't know what kind of wood was used, not in my encyclopedia...
But the car was named Tulipwood... So that is the name I will give it, sounds good too..
Honduras mahogany - reference: ...................
'Art of the Automobile in Miniature' by Gerald A. Wingrove published by The Crowood Press 2003.
In this book there is a chapter on the research and building of this car in miniature. Several myths are taken apart. Mr Wingrove was not content to continue with the established story and together with Roy Middleton was determined to get to the bottom of it.
